Thoughts of the the Catalonian capital city of Barcelona immediately evoke images of the wide, lively Las Ramblas, the sculptural masterpieces of Modernist artists; Gaudi, Picasso and Miro’, and the soaring 14th Century Cathedral. Meanwhile the deep blue Mediterranean laps sun-drenched beaches bordered by tapas bars and chocolate shops dotted along the wide traffic-free promenade.

Moreover,  for those looking for some holiday theme park or water park action,  you won’t be disappointed!

With fabulous performance possibilities like participation in mass at Barcelona Cathedral to outdoor concerts in plazas surrounded by stunning architecture and pavement cafes it is an experience not to be missed. Along the coast is the Brighton-esque seaside resort of Sitges where locals and tourists will gather on warm evenings to enjoy the musical entertainment you provide.

Concert performance venues for music tours of Barcelona

Barcelona is ideal for all types of music and concert tours. With a warm climate throughout the year, Barcelona provides an array of indoor and outdoor concert venues for choirs, bands and orchestras. Barcelona's combination of historic and modern venues, plus its vibrant city culture make this ideal for school and adult music tours.

Performances take place at a stone covered bandstand located in the corner of the main square. Concerts typically take place at mid-day where the temperature can be quite hot however the bandstand is covered and provides good shade. Poble Espanyol is a popular tourist attraction so concerts typically attract passing audiences. This venue offers a great experience for any musical ensemble.

Poble Espanyol

The Spanish Village in the heart of Barcelona

Performances can take place indoors or outdoors depending on the weather and month; most concerts typically take place in the later afternoon or early evening. As well as the shopping centre there are cinemas, tapas bars, cafe’s and restaurants surrounded by the beautiful harbour and Marina. Chairs and electricity are available but there are no changing facilities.

Groups have the opportunity to participate in mass service. As there is no organ they must perform acapella. Mass is usually held in a small side chapel. Lighting, electricity and chairs are available but no changing facilities, piano or organ. It is possible to use a portable keyboard. A concert can also be performed but must be made up of sacred music and a tape recording is required before the Cathedral will confirm a performance

Excursions and Trips in Barcelona for touring music groups

The city of Barcelona  has enough fabulous sights and visits to fill your itinerary, not to mention the added advantage of the sun, sea, sand and sangria! Travelling south is the virtually unspoilt area of the Costa Dorada with long sandy beaches. Combine history and beach fun on a visit to Roman Tarragona and coastal Sitges. Travelling north are the dramatic landscapes of the Costa del Maresme with small coves and ports and the resort of Malgrat de Mar with over 4 kilometres of white sand beaches, the historic walled city of Girona and the hilltop medieval town of Pals.

Unlike any other cathedral in the world, the Sagrada Familia is simply mind-blowing. The nativity facade and the architecture of the building created by Gaudi is an amazing piece of art.
The Poble Espanyol is an open-air architectural museum. This fascinating real village with architectural diversity is located on Montjuïc Mountain and was built during the 1929 International Exhibition.
Unesco-listed Park Güell is where Gaudí turned his hand to landscape gardening. It’s a strange, enchanting place where his passion for natural forms really took flight and the artificial almost seems more natural than the natural.
Soar above the city and enjoy stunning views from the Montjuic cable car and hill.
No shortage of fun here and a wonderfully refreshing splash about in Caribe Aquatic park is the perfect complement to the cultural city of Barcelona.
Just 35km southwest of Barcelona, Sitges sizzles with beach life, and a packed summer festival calendar. A resort town since the 19th century, Sitges was a key location for the Modernisme movement paving the way for the likes of Picasso.
