Westminster Abbey is one of Britain's finest Gothic buildings, founded by Edward the Confessor in the eleventh century. Coronations, marriages and funerals of British monarchs have taken place there ever since, including the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales. Visitors can see the Grave of the Unknown Warrior, Royal Tombs, the Shrine of St Edward the Confessor, the Coronation Chair, the Lady Chapel and Poets' Corner as well as the Royal Chapels. The Houses of Parliament and the clock tower are one of London’s most iconic landmarks. The building is known as the Palace of Westminster and the clock tower is sometimes called St Stephen’s Tower, although it is commonly referred to as Big Ben. Big Ben is actually the massive bell inside the clock tower, which weighs in at over 13 tons! Buckingham Palace Take a peek inside one of the world’s last remaining working palaces. Buckingham Palace opens its doors to the public for two months only every summer. Buckingham Palace is the main London residence of The Queen and serves as both her home and office. The official residence of the British monarchy since 1837, it started life as townhouse to the Duke of Buckingham. It was George IV in the 1820s who wanted to develop it into an official residence. Queen Victoria was the first sovereign to live in the palace.   The impressive Tate Modern is Britain's national museum of modern art. Housed in the former Bankside Power Station on the banks of the River Thames, the gallery displays major works by Matisse and Picasso as well as contemporary work, exhibitions and installations. The National Gallery houses one of the greatest collections of European painting in the world. With paintings ranging from 1250 to 1900, the collection includes work by Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Gainsborough, Turner, Cezanne and Van Gogh. The BA London Eye is a major feature of London's skyline. It is the world's highest observation wheel and offers passengers spectacular views of over 55 of London's most famous landmarks - all in just 30 minutes. Take a free guided tour with one of the Yeoman Warders around one of the most famous fortified buildings in the world. Discover its 900 year history as a royal palace and fortress, prison and place of execution, mint, arsenal, menagerie and jewel house. With its world-famous dome, St Paul's is a major feature on the London skyline. Designed by Sir Christopher Wren and built between 1675 and 1710, it houses famous works of art and intricate mosaics. Climb to the top of the spiral staircase for amazing panoramic views of the city.

Southwark Cathedral has provided excellent concerts for our musical groups. There are also possibilities at Arts Centres, Universities and even Embassies for a variety of concerts. Great St Mary's Church in Cambridge is also under 2 hours away and provides the combination of concert and a sight-seeing visit.
