Slovenia
Sample Itinerary

Formerly the northernmost and wealthiest republic of what was Yugoslavia, Slovenia has all the right ingredients for a memorable visit.

The landscape is as varied as it is beautiful. The Julian Alps along the Austrian border provide stunning mountain scenery and backdrop for Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj, whilst further to the south the scenery is riddled with spectacular caves like those at Postojna.

Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana, is small in size but cluttered with Baroque and Habsburg buildings. It can easily be visited from both of our resorts. The picturesque, Portoroz, lies along the northern edge of the Istrian peninsula and Lake Bled is a beautiful area just south of the Austrian border.

CONCERTS, EXCURSIONS AND ACCOMMODATION

Map of Slovenia

Concert venues are in abundance for all types of music ensembles and there are numerous excursions to enjoy.  Visit the castle and museum of Lake Bled, take a boat to the island in the middle of the lake and visit  the Church of St. Marika Bozja, spend a day exploring the capital city of Slovenia, Ljubljana, or stroll along the quaint cobbled streets of Portoroz.

The Italian town of Trieste is just a short journey from Portoroz, the fascinating caves at Postonja and Skocjanska are well worth a visit, and the stables at Lipica, where they breed and train the world-renowned horses of the Spanish Riding School of Vienna, are close by.

We work with two resorts in Slovenia, the northern resort of Lake Bled and the southern coastal towns of Portoroz and Piran.

At either resort, accommodation would be in either 3* or 4* hotels with twin-bedded rooms for adults and multi-bedded rooms for students, all having en suite facilities.
